PrinTING WITH PIGMENTED BACTERIA

ASCUS Manager Dr Keira Tucker and artist Kexin Liu will guide you to paint, print, and dye your own colourful textile with pigment-producing bacteria at the publicly accessible ASCUS Lab in Summerhall, Edinburgh.

The hands-on workshop part of this year’s Edinburgh Science Festival, will consist of a brief health and safety induction, followed by a talk on the creative use of microbes and a demonstration of textile dyeing using bacteria. You will then be able to create your own dyed textiles to take home.

At the end of the session we will sterilize all finished artworks so that you can take them home safely.
